Well, I thought I would throw my hat into a couple of challenges with the Valentine card I made for my sweetie pie!
Here is the card:
It is a little bit different from the type of cards I usually do, but I wanted to try something out. There were a few hiccups which I will try to remedy next time I do this type of project, but overall I am happy with the way it turned out.
I used a stamp from the Strawberry Kisses set and stamped it onto parchment using black archival ink. Then I set to coloring and embossing, which both proved a bit more challenging than I had anticipated. Basically the problem that surfaced was the line detail of the animals was lost when embossed. For the bedding that was ok, but for the animals, I thought the detail was needed so I used a fine liner to accent a few of the line.
The heart was from on of the the My Craft Studio Parchment CDs. I embossed that on red parchment and backed it with white paper so the red was more visible.
Then the rest of the card came together fairly easily. The paper is from K&C, a humungo multi-pack that was given as a freebie at 2011's Summer Crafting. The blue floral felt lace / ribbon has been in my stash for ages. I used purple vintage ribbon to pick up the purple in the cushion.
I debated putting a sentiment on the front, but decided against it as I wanted the detail of the beautiful paper visible.
