Crafty Boots Easter Challenge

Nothing says Spring or Easter to me more than BUNNIES!  In my opinion, Penny Black does some of the cutest bunnies there are...so I have used one of her stamps for my latest design team card for Crafty Boots Challenges where the theme is Easter.

Here's the card:

I don't have a ton of 'block' rubber stamps, but I had to get this one because I thought it was adorable.  The bunnies are colored with Pro Markers with a bit of distressing around the image layer using broken china Distress Ink.  I have had the flowered ribbon in my stash for ages and it seemed to fit in nicely with the overall card, as well as the paper flowers which were from Create and Craft.  You will also recognize the use of Grand Nesties, which I may be doing a little too often (but at least I have a few different sets so they are not always the same shape!)

Alrighty then, that's it for me as I have to finish a birthday card for my Nephew Gabe, who is turning 2 on the 23rd.  Luckily he is not older or else he would probably realize the card is probably going to be late since he is in America and I have not finished and / or mailed it yet..lol.

You're in my heart

Hello all!  Another fortnight has gone by, and that means another fab challenge at Crafty Boots Challenges.  This time, the challenge theme is Valentines day.

Here is my design team card for the Challenge.

I thought I would go for something a little untraditional.  This cutie mouse from Penny Black showering down flowers just called out to me so I gave in.  The image is colored with Pro Markers and the die cut layers are distressed with Broken China and Barn Door Distress Ink.  The sentiment is also Penny Black.  I die cut the layers with a Grand Nesties die (labels 23).  The backing layer is also done using the Grand Calibur and the Fancy Flourish Grand Impressability.

I stamped over the die cut layers with Versa ink using a Majestix flower stamp.  Then a bit of purple organza ribbon and bow and I thought it was good to go.

Penny Black Christmas Volume 2

Last week's challenge was such good fun I decided to see what I could come up with for this weeks Penny Black Saturday Challenge :  The theme is "Gold and Presents".

I am such a huge fan of Penny Black's kitty cats, so they will surely be making repeated appearances in my blog I am sure!  This particular kitty is from the 'It's Your Day' set.   I did hte colouring with flex markers and there is also some embossing on the presents using glitter embossing powder and pearl iridescent powder.

I hope you like it, and if not...all constructive feedback is welcome.  I am still rather new at this card making stuff, so I am always happy to hear what people think (good or bad).

Penny Black Christmas

I think I am finally getting back into the swing of things with my crafting after a bad few months.  Having a browse around my favourite challenge blogs, I came across The Penny Black Saturday Challenge and decided to see what I could come up with!

Here is the card.  The kitty is from the 9 lives set.  and I did the coloring with Flex Markers.   The layers are cut and embossed using the Nestabilities Peony set.   Then for the snowflakes....some are embossed, others are punched, and then a few pre-fab snowflakes are thrown in for good measure.

Of mice and mice

In my quest to keep a busy brain, I have completed yet another challenge card.  This one is for the Penny Black Saturday Challenge - Shabby Chic.

Penny Black stamps are some of my favourites, and the only difficulty was deciding on a stamp to use for the card.  This is what I ended up with.

I used a crackling technique with white over a blue/gray.  I tried stamping the image directly on the crackled cardstock, but as I suspected, I was not able to colour it due to the paint on the card being water based.  I did not dare try to paint the lovely mice as they are quite tiny and I am not a great painter, so instead I stamped the image, coloured it with flex markers and promarkers and cut it out. I stamped a few extra flowers as well and coloured them with flex markers.  The crackled card and the card directly behind the mice are distressed with old paper and spun sugar distress ink.  The 'quilted' paper is from the Glitter Girls (I think).   The lace is coloured using spun sugar distress ink as well.  Finally, the sentiment is stamped on tan card using versamark and heat embossed with Artic Lake Lustre Cosmic Shimmer embossing powder.

I am quite pleased with how the card turned out and I hope you are too.

Penny Black Star

Well, it seems that I am a bit of an addictive personality.  Once I entered the Polkadoodles Christmas in July challenge, I was surfing around looking for other blogs and challenges for inspiration.  I was very happy to stumble upon the Penny Black Saturday Challenge Blog. 

Being a big fan of Penny Black artwork, and having a number of her stamp sets, I thought I would give this Saturday's Challenge a go.

As the theme was Starburst, and I am already in the Christmas card spirit, this A5 card is what I ended up with.

Penny Black Stars and Snowflakes

 I have been a bit daft, and misplaced the original packing for the stamp set, but it is one of the Penny Black transparent sets...obviously Christmas themed.  I am not sure if it comes across in the picture, but the bottom layer is a light blue glitter paper, then silver textured card, and then sky blue glitter card..  The blue embossed layer was done using blue coredinations card, an embossing plate I got two years ago (and have no idea what it is called or whom it is manufactured by), and the cuttlebug.  The little mouse is coloured using pro markers, and I used punches to make the little snowflakes out of off cuts of the light blue glitter paper and textured silver card layers.

I hope you like it, but if you don't please tell me why so I can learn.  Remember, I am new at all this stuff!
