Resisting Temptation

Hello to all my lovely followers and visitors!  Today starts a new challenge over at Crafty Boots Challenges, and the theme is Food Glorious Food!

For my design team card, I thought I would pick one of my favorite foods - CAKE.  Here's the card.

I used a Pachela digi stamp which I got over at Cuddly Buddly.  The coloring was done with flex markers,  with the cake frosting done with Papermania fluid metallic brush pens.  The distressing is done with dusty concord and stormy sky distress ink.

The layers are done using Grand Nesties and the flowers were punched out with a tonic punches and embellished with gems.

This card is actually a birthday card for my mother in law, who's birthday is today (20 Feb), so Happy Birthday Helmi!  Hopefully the actual card will reach her in Germany before this post goes live.

I am also going to enter this card into the following:

Dutch Dare Card Challenges - Distressing
Southern Girls Challenge #38 - So Distressed
Crafts and Me Challenges - Distressed
Paper Crafting Journey - Make it Cute

Thanks for looking, and as always, all comments are very much appreciated.  Pop over to Crafty Boots Challenges to enter your Food themed creations!  We would love to see them.

Take care and happy crafting!

xx Denise

A Little Something for My Sweetheart

Well, I thought I would throw my hat into a couple of challenges with the Valentine card I made for my sweetie pie!

Here is the card:

It is a little bit different from the type of cards I usually do, but I wanted to try something out.  There were a few hiccups which I will try to remedy next time I do this type of project, but overall I am happy with the way it turned out.

I used a stamp from the Strawberry Kisses set and stamped it onto parchment using black archival ink.  Then I set to coloring and embossing, which both proved a bit more challenging than I had anticipated.  Basically the problem that surfaced was the line detail of the animals was lost when embossed.  For the bedding that was ok, but for the animals, I thought the detail was needed so I used a fine liner to accent a few of the line.

The heart was from on of the the My Craft Studio Parchment CDs.  I embossed that on red parchment and backed it with white paper so the red was more visible.

Then the rest of the card came together fairly easily.  The paper is from K&C, a humungo multi-pack that was given as a freebie at 2011's Summer Crafting.  The blue floral felt lace / ribbon has been in my stash for ages.  I used purple vintage ribbon to pick up the purple in the cushion.

I debated putting a sentiment on the front, but decided against it as I wanted the detail of the beautiful paper visible.

I would like to enter this card in the following challenges:
Crafty Bloggers Network - Love is in the Air
Creative Stamp Friends - Valentine
The Crazy Challenge - Valentine
Dream Valley Challenges - Valentine
Lets Ink It Up - Ribbons or Lace
That Craft Place Challenge Blog - Love is All Around

Anyway, thanks for looking, and please feel free to check out the current challenges from Just Inspirational Challenges - (Photo Inspiration) and Crafty Boots Challenges - (Valentine theme).
There is still time to enter your lovely creations into those challenges.

Take care and have a lovely Valentine's Day!

xx Denise
